Sorry it took so long to respond; I just saw the icon (after all these months!). Hope you're okay; come back to the boards when you get a chance.

i dont know what the housing market is like where you are but because of the huge downturn in the economy and a huge glut of houses on the market that aren't selling (and the interest rates )its a buyers market right now here in west virginia...i've thought about buying a few houses at our yearly tax sale and either flipping them or turning them into rental homes.

Oh it's definitely that type of market! Buyers can be picky and wait. HOWEVER, it seems like I'm running in circles with the same picky buyers, but they're getting to the houses I like before me!

I've always heard that in an economy like this, the best way to rebound faster than anyone else is to invest. You figure, in 5-10 years my house payment won't be ridiculously overpriced and overtaxed at a high interest rate.

The downfall to this market, or so it seems--people don't have the money to take care of their homes in the first place, and in the second---if they know they don't have the money to keep it, why bother keeping it nice? It's like people are thinking, "I'm not going to be living here whether I sell or foreclose, so why bother to keep it nice when I can spend my money on (insert superficial object here).
This is all providing I don't lose my mind in the process!

I will! I try. I'm house hunting right now, and that's a time consuming head exploding task! I could never be one of those people you see on HGTV -- the ones that flip houses. No way. Hell, I don't even think I could do it on peyote! image

image I am having one of those days where I truly believe the stars are stacked against me. I know it's not true all the time. Let's hope it ends soon. For my own sanity, please end soon.
  2. A Fairwell to Christmas

I must say, I'm glad it's over. Christmas that is. While I'm not a huge fan of the holiday (belief or commercial), I do try and have fun. All the pressures and obligations have passed. However, I'm glad my boyfriend, whom I love to death, is the same as me. At gatherings, we slowly migrate to another room opting for peace and quiet over the hustle. It works very well for us.

This was a good year as I predicted in the beginning. And I believe next year to be great. That...

This isn't so much a blog post as it is a exclamative sentence. I just can't believe I spent $60 on two books! (Note the exclamation at the end therefore making it a exclamative sentence.)

Allow me, if you will a cartoon thought bubble over my head with a nice interjection, like WHAM!
